Metal Braces & More
Most patients we treat at Nirenblatt Orthodontics choose traditional metal braces to straighten their teeth.
Metal braces are the most common type of orthodontic treatment, but you have other options, too.
After your first free consultation, Dr. Nirenblatt will talk to you about which treatment would be right for you based on your unique needs and smile goals.
Fixed Vs. Removable Appliances
At Nirenblatt Orthodontics, we believe patients should be well-informed when it comes to their treatment.
It’s important to understand the difference between fixed and removable appliances. Fixed appliances, like braces, are attached to your teeth and aren’t taken off until you complete your treatment.
Removable appliances, like Invisalign’s aligner system, are worn about 20-22 hours a day but can be taken off easily.
Besides the obvious differences, Dr. Nirenblatt uses Invisalign aligners to treat mild to moderate orthodontic problems.
At Nirenblatt Orthodontics, we generally use fixed appliances for comprehensive and serious and treatment.
Invisalign® & Invisalign for Teens
Unlike traditional braces, this kind of orthodontic treatment doesn’t rely on a system of metal or ceramic brackets and wires.
The Invisalign system is made up of a series of custom clear trays called aligners that are removable and nearly invisible. This is perfect for Nirenblatt Orthodontics patients who want a more subtle treatment option.
At Nirenblatt Orthodontics, we're proud to offer clear braces to our West Ashley, North Charleston, and Summerville area patients. Clear braces, also known as ceramic or tooth-colored braces, use the same parts as traditional braces.
But, instead of metal, the brackets on the front side of the teeth are made of see-through ceramic material. Dr. Nirenblatt typically recommends these for adult and older teen patients, since they can sometimes be more fragile and slightly more expensive.
Today's metal braces are smaller, lighter, and more comfortable to wear than ever before. At Nirenblatt Orthodontics, metal braces are the top treatment choice for patients of all ages.
Braces are an excellent treatment option for patients in West Ashley, North Charleston, and Summerville who want to correct more complex or severe oral issues. Dr. Nirenblatt will determine if traditional metal braces are the best fit for your smile at your free initial consultation.
